I support clients to slow down and mindfully explore the connection between their mind and body, thoughts and feelings, and to build curiosity, compassion, and self-trust.
Having explored many teachings and modalities in my pursuit of healing through chronic pain and trauma; I’ve landed on what I believe to be important aspects of wellness. These include a desire to feel safe, to feel seen, to feel heard and understood; to develop self-compassion and the capacity to look at ourselves through a lens of curiosity and grace; and to build internal trust by exploring and respecting our yeses and nos. I believe a safe and attuned counseling relationship is one way to build on these strengths.
Mindfulness has been a daily practice in my life for the past 7 years and has been a huge contributor to my ability to sit with the emotional and physical discomfort that can come up when turning towards our hurts. I have spent the majority of my life looking for that one treatment, that one thing that would repair my existing pains and prevent future pain. This led to a seeking that had me looking back into the past and all the things I wanted to change, and longing for a future different from the past. There is wisdom that lies in the present moment. It can be difficult to check into the present moment yet with practice, patience and building trust within the counseling relationship and within the client themselves, the present moment can become more and more accessible. Having someone to work with during this process can be incredibly calming and supportive to encourage clients to stay a little longer in the moment they are exploring.
